Weekly Announcements
Special Friend for April
Everyone likes to be remembered, cared for, and reminded they are loved, so each month we recognize special friends in our church family who need a little extra care and would love to receive your cards, calls, and visits. Our April Special Friend is John Ragan. Please send him a card or note to let him know you are thinking of him. His address is: John Ragan, North Pointe of Mayodan, 6970 NC Highway 135, Room 31, Mayodan, NC 27027.
Adult Sunday School
Now is a great time to join our Adult Sunday School at 9:00a each Sunday. Currently we are studying Adam Hamilton’s The Call: The Life and Message of the Apostle Paul. We hope you will join us!
Children’s Sunday School
Our LUMC children’s Sunday School meets each Sunday at 9:15a on the 2nd Floor Classroom Hall in the Children’s Church room. Children ages 4 years through 5th grade are invited to join us!
Book Study
Our Thursday morning book study group is studying Mike Slaughter's "Renegade Gospel." Join us this Thursday, April 24, and become a part of the discussion as we get to know Jesus and ourselves better! Class meets every Thursday at 10 AM in the third floor Friendship Class. Books are $5-- just contact Pastor Lauren at [email protected] or call the church office to claim yours!
New Youth Group Coming May 2025!
As our confirmation study group came to a close recently, our 8 confirmands (5 from Leaksville, 2 from St. John UMC, and one from Ruffin UMC) decided that their time together is in fact just beginning! They have bonded well and want to continue learning and growing together. As such, we will all meet together at Pastor Lauren’s house on Sunday, May 4 at 4:00p to officially inaugurate our new Community Youth Group. Our young people will lead the way, brainstorming about what they want and need from this new community. We are so excited to see what God is going to do in the coming months! Please be in prayer for our youth as they dream big, learn how to be disciples, and serve together in Jesus’ name.
Hand-in-Hand Ministry
During Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9, our Hand-in-Hand Ministry will be providing a snack bar for all teachers and staff at LSE (75 total). We are asking for monetary donations to help cover the cost of these snacks. Please indicate in the memo line of your check that your donation is to go Hand-in-Hand ministry. Thank you for your support!
Mother’s Day
We are now collecting names for our yearly Mother’s Day bulletin for Sunday, May 11. There is a donation of $5.00 per name, in either Honor or Memory of loved ones. Collection envelopes can be found throughout the church. Please feel free to place your names and donations in the small basket on the small table at the front of the church where bulletins and empty envelopes are located, put them in the offering plate, or pass them on to Sharon in the church office. Envelopes need to be submitted by Wednesday, May 7, to be included in the special Mother’s Day bulletin insert.
PICK Recital
The PICK (Piedmont Instrumental Classes for Kids) program, which meets here at LUMC is looking forward to its year-end recital on Mother’s Day, May 11, at 4:00p. Our congregation is invited to attend, but come early—with nearly 50 students, we anticipate a full sanctuary filled with the wonderful sounds of budding young musicians. The PICK program is thankful, once again, for the wonderful support of the LUMC community!
Sunday Flowers in the Sanctuary
The 2025 flower chart is now posted on the church office door. If you would like to remember a birthday, anniversary, baptism, in-memory-of, or any other special occasion, this would be the perfect opportunity for recognition. The cost of the two arrangements on the altar is $86 for both.
You may sign up for a Sunday on the poster or call the church secretary and let her know which Sunday you are interested in. It will be printed in that Sunday’s bulletin who donated the flowers and for what reason (if any).
The church will pay the florist bill. You will make your check out to LUMC and put “flowers” in the memo line. You can either pay ahead or pay during the month you recognize a Sunday.
Office Hours
The church office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30a-2:30p and 8:30a-12:30p on Fridays.
For your safety, our church entrance doors will be locked at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
