Weekly Announcements
Special Friend for September
Everyone likes to be remembered, cared for, and reminded they are loved, so each month we recognize special friends in our church family who need a little extra care and would love to receive your cards, calls, and visits. Our September Special Friend is Mary Ferguson. Please send her a card or note to let her know you are thinking of her. Her address is: Mary Ferguson, 340 Poppy Court, Eden, NC 27288. Her phone number is 336-613-1756.
Adult Sunday School
It is a great time to join the Adult Sunday School class! We are studying Adam Hamilton’s Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts, and Outlaws. We hope you will join us each Sunday from 9:00-9:45a to be a part of this great Bible study!
Children’s Sunday School
Our LUMC children’s Sunday School meets each Sunday at 9:15a on the 2nd Floor Classroom Hall in the Children’s Church room. All children ages 4 years through 5th grade are invited to join us!
One Anothering: Choosing Each Other Group Study
Join us for this eight-week study beginning Wednesday, September 11, at 11:00a, as we seek to embody Christ’s call to love one another even as we share in conversations that matter deeply. Developed by The Colossian Forum, this group study asserts that “every conversation—even the challenging ones about politics—is an opportunity to grow in the fruit of the Spirit.” During our time together, we will lean into one another and practice dialoguing in ways that draw us close to God and to one another, even as our differences remain. Contact the church office at 336-623-3418 to sign up for this study.
Bojangle’s Night
Join us Thursday, September 12, for our LUMC CDC Bojangle’s Night. You may come inside or go to the drive-through window between the hours of 3:00-7:00 p.m. You don’t need to tell them you are with the CDC as all sales between those hours will earn us 10% which will go to our scholarship fund!
Comfort Club
Beginning Sunday, September 15, we will have our first “Comfort Club” for our older youth. This is an idea our kids came up with as we talked about our “Light On” lessons. Once or twice a month we will allow our older youth to come in and journal, color, and talk to Pastor Lauren or Summer Nance. This will be a time for self reflection and peace as we help our youth figure out what their church looks like to them. The Comfort Club will be after church from 11-12:30, lunch provided. We hope they will join us!
United Women in Faith
The UWF will hold its Salad Super at 6:30p, Monday, September 16, in the Fellowship Hall at LUMC. All women of the church are invited along with friends and newcomers. Dessert, bread, and drinks are provided.
Drop-In Hours
While you are welcome to reach out to Pastor Lauren anytime via phone, email or at the church, the following drop-in hours, Thursdays from 9:00a to 12:00p, are a set aside opportunity for connection and relationship building. Hope you’ll drop by and sit a spell.
Sermons Available on LUMC webpage and Facebook page
